Job Description:
As a member of the Finance team, the Manufacturing Cost Accountant reports to the Divisional Controller. The Manufacturing Cost Accountant is responsible for the preparation and maintenance of the plant cost records required for each part and product line. The incumbent will coordinate with materials, Engineering, and Production to prepare accurate costs to assist with annual budgets, monthly forecasts and bridges for the variances. This position will be responsible for the standard costs of the facility.
Responsibilities:
- Accurate and timely reporting relating to the internal costs for the operation of the plant
- Organized and accurate part cost records
- Work in compliance with Stackpole International PMDA Quality Systems, Safety Systems, and Environmental Systems
- Maintain financial control and plant performance reporting system in accordance with company policies and procedures
- Maintain and enforce appropriate internal control of financial and operational processes
- Prepare flash report and assist with monthly financial statements package
- Analyze monthly variances from budgets and report on significant issues
- Review and assist in maintenance of complete cost records including repair and maintenance, supplies, utilities and labour
- Administer monthly closing of inventory based on standard cost
- Determine part and material accruals and maintain cut-off procedures
- Assist in preparation of forecasts, budgets, and special reports as required
- Assist in capital expenditures request analysis
- Prepare year-end audit file and assist external audit process
- Assist in analysis of costs with the intent of implementing a standard cost system
- Contribute and assist others with Continuous Improvement Ideas
- Participates in continuous improvement initiatives
- Adheres to Stackpole’s policies and procedures
- Adheres and supports Stackpole’s Safety and Environmental policies and practices
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Degree in business with an accounting major, consideration will be given to candidates with professional accounting designation
- Excellent understanding and thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
- 2-4 years of costing experience in a manufacturing environment is required
Technical & Skill Requirements:
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Ability to interact effectively with management, plant personnel, auditors and various finance personnel at other divisions
- High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results orientation.
